Ikea BRÅKIG Collection and Art Event 2015 Street Art Posters

My brother recently gotten the keys to his new apartment, and I was busy helping out with the renovation, shopping for appliances and furniture etc (which also explained for the lack of postings from me for the past month). So we went to Ikea Alexandra last Sunday to pick up some items for his apartment. As we were sitting comfortably on the Kivik sofa, something fresh, graphic and colourful from the opposite corner caught my attention that made me feel so excited! That’s the BRÅKIG collection, a limited-edition collection released by Ikea in 2014, but only hit the shelves of Singapore store recently.

This collection is the result of a collaboration between Ikea and a Danish creative community ArtRebels. It covers a range of items such as day bed, ottoman, clothes rack, tray table, textiles and table ware. If you love coral, mint and all shades of pastel colours; if you always wanted everything from the Danish labels like Hay and Ferm Living but have a small budget like I do, you should really visit Ikea now before all these items got snatched up!

To my surprise, the pastel palette appealed to my brother too and we ended up getting 2 tray tables and some table ware for his new home :)

And do remember to check out the street art posters from the Ikea Art Fest 2015 too!

Again, this is another collaboration between Ikea and 12 street artists from around the world. The posters from this collection has a more edgy vibe compared to your usual Ikea posters. I think they are really a greta and affordable way to add that artsy character to our space!

Two of my favourites here

{ Ikea Collectibles } The VITTSJÖ Series

vittsjo shelvingPrice: SGD 59-257

Product Description: Tempered glass and metal, that provide an open, airy feel.

The VITTSJÖ series consists of shelving units, TV storage, laptop table, nesting tables and coffee table.

In all my many visits to the Ikea showroom, these black metal and glass pieces never really caught my eyes. I think they look ok but just not something that stand out from the many products in the showroom.

But boy I was wrong about my initial feeling to these pieces when I saw the VITTSJÖ shelves in Ana Antune’s room. The shelves were painted in glistening gold, and they look totally chic and glam.

This has sparked my interest in the VITTSJÖ series and I started looking for more examples of how these pieces were styled or “hacked” and collated the images below.

I do love the VITTSJÖ pieces painted in gold, but I really with Ikea could come out with the pastel version of VITTSJÖ. Think soft pink, mint green and baby blue, it will be perfect for any Scandinavian-themed home!

{ Ikea Collectibles } The Ranarp Lamp in Dominique Brammah and Ashley Ryan’s Home, Sydney (Part 2/3)

The second home which I spotted the Ikea RANARP lamp belongs to interior designer Dominique Brammah and her partner Ashley Ryan. Dominique works with Sydney design firm Aren’t and Pyke, and her taste is evident in how she has decorated this sunny rental apartment in Bondi, Sydney.

This is her cheerful home featured in The Design Files, besides using the RANARP lamp as the bedside lighting, the retro-looking black and white striped armchairs seen in their living room were actually upholstered in Ikea fabric! (read her full interview with The Design Files here)

{ Ikea Collectibles } The Ranarp Lamp in Jaime Lee’s Home in Queensway, Singapore (Part 1/3)

Powder coated in matte off-white, with the oh-so-in-trend brass-coloured details and a cloth covered black and white cord – The RANARP series has totally captured my heart. In my opinion, this is one of the best lighting design Ikea has produced in recent years. The series comes in a work lamp (SGD 79), and a floor/standing lamp (SGD 99) in Singapore.

Probably not the cheapest lamp in Ikea, but this is such a versatile and timeless piece that I think everyone should stock-up one or two =) especially if you are a fan of Scandinavian design like me.

I’m sure you can find plenty of pretty images of interior styled with RANARP lightings from the internet.

Today I’m just going to share 3 fabulous homes which have impeccable style, and also spotted to have used RANARP lighting in their spaces. Kill two birds with one stone, right?

First up, we have an apartment in Queensway, Singapore, which Jaime Lee shares with her husband. They are the owners of The Paper Bunny, a Singapore-based online stationary/gift store that also offer custom design and styling services. Head over to their website, and you will agree that it is hard to resist those whimsical prints designed by Jaime.

Their home was featured in the lilreddotfolks, and that’s where I spotted my beloved RANARP floor/reading lamp.
